Neapolitan, Liverpool’s top-ranked Italian restaurant on TripAdvisor, was recently selected to prepare food for the Real Madrid first team following their Champions League match against Liverpool FC.
The restaurant prepared 45 pizzas, each hand-stretched, topped, and cooked in Neapolitan’s wood-fired oven at its Lime Street location. The order was completed and delivered within 50 minutes.
Representatives from Real Madrid contacted Neapolitan two weeks before the fixture. After reviewing the restaurant’s preparation process, ingredient quality, and cooking methods, the club selected Neapolitan ahead of other Italian restaurants in Liverpool.
“It was a huge honour to be selected by Real Madrid, who spent weeks preparing for their trip to Liverpool. They are one of the biggest sporting brands in the world, and the feedback we received from them was one of the highlights of our career so far,” said Lorraine, co-owner of Neapolitan.
Neapolitan is owned by husband-and-wife team Jamie and Lorraine Davison. Their focus on traditional Neapolitan pizza has earned recognition both in the UK and abroad. Jamie was recently invited by the Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana (AVPN) to act as a judge at the UK Pizza Championships.
The restaurant is Liverpool and Merseyside’s first and only independent AVPN-certified pizzeria. It specialises in authentic wood-fired Neapolitan pizza made in line with AVPN standards.
Neapolitan was also named Pizzeria of the Year 2025/26 for the North West by the Prestige Awards, recognising its approach to Italian pizza making and customer experience.
Guests can see pizzas prepared in the open kitchen, where dough is stretched, topped, and baked in full view of the dining area. The restaurant also offers seating at the Chef’s Table.
Neapolitan holds a 4.9-star rating across major review platforms, based on more than 4,000 reviews. It has received TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice Awards in 2023, 2024, and 2025, and currently holds the title of TripAdvisor’s No.1 Italian Restaurant and No.1 Pizza in Liverpool.
“Being recognised as Pizzeria of the Year and Liverpool’s number one Italian restaurant is an incredible honour. Everything here is made with passion, from our fermented 24-hour in-house dough to our made-to-order pastas. Every dish is crafted with love and authenticity in mind, and we’re all so proud to share it with the people of Liverpool,” Lorraine said.
Located in Liverpool city centre, Neapolitan is a popular choice for pre-theatre dining at the Liverpool Empire, matchdays for Everton and Liverpool FC, and meals after shopping or sightseeing. The restaurant also hosts birthdays, anniversaries, and graduation celebrations.
The menu includes hand-stretched pizzas, fresh pasta, and Italian starters. Dairy-free, vegan, and gluten-free options are available.
Neapolitan is a two-minute walk from Liverpool Lime Street Station. Nearby parking is available on Bolton Street and at St John’s Shopping Centre. The restaurant is open seven days a week from 12pm, serving lunch and dinner.
