Rudy’s Pizza Napoletana has confirmed that its debut Cambridge restaurant will officially open on Saturday 1st November 2025 at 12pm, marking the occasion by giving away 3,000 complimentary pizzas to local diners eager to get a first taste of its renowned Neapolitan creations.

Situated on St Andrews Street in the heart of the city, the new pizzeria will occupy the former TSB bank building, bringing a warm, lively atmosphere to one of Cambridge’s busiest areas. Spanning 2,100 square feet across two floors, the restaurant will seat up to 200 guests, making it an inviting space for relaxed dining as the colder months approach.

The launch represents a milestone for Rudy’s, being its first location in Cambridge and the 35th in its growing UK portfolio. Since the opening of its flagship site in Manchester’s Ancoats in 2015, Rudy’s has earned a devoted following for its light, slow-fermented dough and unwavering commitment to the art of true Neapolitan pizza making.

Further underscoring its dedication to authenticity, Rudy’s holds the distinction of being the world’s largest organisation accredited by the Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana (AVPN) — the official body safeguarding the traditional craft of Neapolitan pizza.

In 2024, Rudy’s achieved global recognition when it was ranked 27th in the World’s 50 Best Pizzerias. From its signature Margherita to the fiery Calabrese, each pizza is handcrafted to AVPN standards using age-old techniques and premium ingredients imported directly from Italy.

Commenting on the upcoming launch, Neal Bates of Rudy’s said: “Cambridge is the perfect next stop for Rudy’s as one of the UK’s most beautiful cities and home to a vibrant student community – and we can’t wait to open our doors. Whether you’re discovering us for the first time or returning for another taste, we’re excited to fire up the oven and say a big ciao to the city.”

Every batch of Rudy’s dough is prepared fresh daily using Caputo ‘00’ flour, which undergoes a minimum 24-hour fermentation process. Toppings include San Marzano tomatoes cultivated on the volcanic soils near Mount Vesuvius and creamy fior di latte mozzarella from Naples, ensuring each bite captures the essence of Italy.

Following traditional Neapolitan methods, the pizzas are baked for about 60 seconds in a handcrafted Stefano Ferrara oven, achieving the signature soft texture and airy, raised crust known as the cornicione.

Rudy’s also celebrates the global pizza community through limited-edition collaborations inspired by world-famous pizzaiolos. These rotating specials introduce new flavours while staying faithful to Neapolitan authenticity.

Recent highlights include Diego’s Diavola, created alongside acclaimed master pizzaiolo Diego Vitagliano, named Best in the World 2023 by 50 Top Pizza. The collaboration exemplifies Rudy’s dedication to preserving the artistry of Neapolitan pizza and its ongoing partnerships with the finest talent in the field.

Rudy’s Cambridge will officially welcome guests from Saturday 1st November at 6 Andrews St, Cambridge CB2 3AX, and is set to create up to 35 new jobs within the local community.
