Manchester’s wait is finally over – London’s renowned artisan bakery and baking school, Bread Ahead, is heading north for the very first time. Teaming up with luxury retailer Harvey Nichols Manchester, the bakery will open an exclusive pop-up from Monday 3rd November, bringing its much-loved doughnuts to the city.

Manchester’s most-requested bakery has listened

Fans of Bread Ahead will know the brand’s playful online presence and international following. Its Borough Market bakery wall features a world map dotted with pins from doughnut lovers across the globe. When the team recently asked followers on Instagram where they should open next, Manchester overwhelmingly topped the list – and Bread Ahead took note.

Matthew Jones, Founder of Bread Ahead, said: “We’ve long wanted to branch out regionally, and this felt like the perfect way to do it. Baking and education are so important to us, so we’re really excited to bring our doughnuts to the people of Manchester and thrilled to be working with Harvey Nichols. We hope this is just the first of many visits to Manchester – there’s so much more to come!”

Doughnuts worth queueing for

The Manchester pop-up will feature Bread Ahead’s full line-up of indulgent, hand-filled doughnuts. Visitors can enjoy beloved favourites such as Vanilla, Jam, Chocolate, Sea Salted Caramel, and Pistachio – along with the bakery’s legendary Crème Brûlée doughnut, a London icon with around 5,000 sold each day. Regional and seasonal specials will also appear, including Pumpkin Crème Brûlée, S’mores, Lemon Curd, Coconut, and Blackcurrant Cheesecake.

Free the dough – and grab one on the house

To celebrate its Manchester debut, Bread Ahead will be offering a sweet welcome with a giveaway of 1,000 free doughnuts over the first two days of launch.

On Monday 3rd November, the first 500 free doughnuts will be available from 10am at the Harvey Nichols Manchester pop-up (one per person, while stocks last). For those who miss out, another 500 will be given away from 10am on Tuesday 4th November – same place, same joy, still completely free. Manchester locals are invited to follow the scent of freshly baked dough and enjoy a taste of Bread Ahead’s famous treats, one delicious bite at a time.

Gavin Hudson, General Manager at Harvey Nichols Manchester, said: “Bread Ahead is a true institution in Borough Market, so when Matthew and the team got in touch, we knew that their offer would definitely resonate with our customers. We’re excited to be bringing their full selection of doughnut flavours to the city and we are sure that their trademark Crème Brûlée doughnut will become a firm favourite here too.”

The pop-up will run for three months on the Ground Floor of Harvey Nichols Manchester. Follow the irresistible aroma of freshly baked dough and indulge in one of London’s most famous sweet treats — as Bread Ahead makes Manchester’s mornings just a little bit sweeter.
