Radnor Hills has been awarded Sustainable Supplier of the Year at the Federation of Wholesale Distributors’ (FWD) annual Gold Medal Awards.
The soft drinks producer was praised for “leading the way in sustainability far beyond its size and scale,” with judges describing the result as “a landslide win.”
A delegation from Radnor Hills accepted the accolade at last night’s ceremony, held at Old Billingsgate in London and hosted by comedian and presenter Josh Widdicombe.
The FWD Gold Medal Awards highlight excellence throughout the UK wholesale sector, recognising both suppliers and wholesalers who deliver exceptional performance across a range of categories.
The Sustainable Supplier Award is presented to businesses demonstrating clear, measurable progress in reducing environmental impact and embedding sustainability throughout their operations.
The judging panel commented: “From achieving zero waste to landfill since 2018 to investing in on-site solar power that now provides over 20% of its energy needs, Radnor Hills continues to set the benchmark for credible, science-based climate action.
“With its Net Zero strategy formally submitted to the Science Based Targets initiative and deep alignment with FWD’s 2040 Roadmap, Radnor Hills proves that environmental leadership and business growth can go hand in hand.”
Radnor Hills ranks among the UK’s foremost soft drinks manufacturers, producing all of its beverages using exceptionally pure Welsh spring water drawn from boreholes located just minutes from its production facility in Knighton, Powys.
Independent and family-run, the business has been operating for 35 years and now produces more than 400 million bottles of still, sparkling and flavoured water each year.
Simon Knight, Managing Director of Radnor Hills, said: “This is a fantastic award to win and I’m incredibly proud of the whole team at Radnor Hills who have worked so hard to achieve it.
“Sustainability is embedded within our business and we have put in place a number of measures to directly support decarbonisation within the soft drinks and wholesale supply chain, from providing lower-carbon product options, improving logistics efficiency and promoting packaging sustainability.
“By integrating renewable energy, packaging circularity, and carbon management into our growth strategy, we support both our commercial partners and the wider wholesale sector in achieving shared Net Zero goals.”
Radnor Hills places a strong focus on local sourcing, selecting ingredients and packaging materials from nearby suppliers to minimise its carbon footprint. The company operates its own solar farm, which generates a quarter of the site’s electricity needs each year. It has committed to achieving net zero by 2045 and submitted its plan to the Science Based Targets initiative.
Alongside its still and sparkling Radnor Spring Water, the company produces its popular Heartsease Farm sparkling pressé range, Radnor Splash—which sells at a rate of three units every second—and a selection of school-compliant beverages.
Three new drinks will launch in January 2026: Radnor Fruits Disney, Radnor Spring and Radnor Hydrate.
Radnor Hills also operates the UK’s only production facility capable of manufacturing packaging across four formats: PET, glass, cartons and cans.
