As World Digestive Health Day approaches on May 29th, we wanted to share some recipes from Quality Meat Scotland (QMS) that highlight the importance of fibre in a balanced diet. While QMS often focusses on the benefits of protein in red meat, we believe pairing it with fibre-rich foods is key to promoting overall digestive health and well-being.
This year, Scotland launched its first-ever Scottish Eatwell Guide, celebrating our rich natural larder and emphasising the need for a balanced diet. The guide features Scotch Beef, Scotch Lamb, and Specially Selected Pork, showcasing how locally sourced meats can be part of a healthy and varied diet. The NHS advises keeping red and processed meat intake to 70g (cooked weight) or less per day, a guideline that aligns well with current consumption trends in Scotland.
We have a wide range of dishes perfect for World Digestive Health Day, demonstrating how to combine high-quality protein with fibre-rich ingredients for a nutritious and satisfying meal. Below are our:
- Super Greens Ham, Pea and Mint Soup which is a high in fibre (19g per serving) & high protein (49g per serving)
- One pan Scotch Lamb Kofta is a source of fibre (10g per serving) & high protein (42g per serving)
- Teriyaki Specially Selected Pork Crispy Rice Salad is a source of fibre (11g per serving) & high protein (45g per serving)
