This autumn, as the air grows crisp and the evenings draw in, Cardiff’s award-winning Parkgate Hotel invites guests to enjoy the comforting flavours of the season with the launch of its first-ever Pie Club.
The event will take place in The Sorting Room, the hotel’s 2 AA Rosette-awarded and Michelin Guide-listed restaurant, an elegant dining space housed within the city’s former Head Post Office. Guests can look forward to an imaginative menu of pies whose playful names pay homage to the building’s historic roots.
Among the savoury offerings is The Postmaster – a pie-inspired take on The Sorting Room’s signature Beef Wellington, featuring slow-cooked beef brisket and mushroom duxelle, wrapped in a herb pancake and encased in a golden puff pastry crust.
Other highlights include The First Class, a luxurious blend of tender Usk Valley chicken with Welsh leeks and a creamy prosecco sauce, promising an indulgent experience. Meanwhile, The Special Delivery pairs rich mac ‘n’ cheese with silky lobster and smoky bacon bits for a bold, flavour-packed twist.
Vegetarians won’t miss out with The Telegram – a hearty combination of seasonal vegetables including squash, leeks, and carrots brought together with a tangy cheese sauce.
For dessert, The Drunken Postman brings together apple and brandy crumble served with smooth vanilla cider custard, while The Zesty Dispatch delivers a refreshing balance of lemon and gooseberry for a sweet yet tangy finale.
