Shrimp Shack Sets its Sights on Growth via Franchise Partnerships

The Seafood Hotspot Opens its Second Site in Camden

Following the incredibly successful launch of the flagship Shrimp Shack restaurant in December 2023, the premium seafood hot spot which gives diners a shrimptastic sharing experience, is opening its second restaurant in Camden in July 2024. Having quickly built a cult-like following of seafood lovers in less than a year, and with weekly revenues week-on-week 66% above the original forecast, the Camden location will be the restaurant’s first foray into a franchise partnership as the team sets their sights on ambitious growth plans.

The move to Camden comes as the brand aims to tap into central London locations in order to bring its ‘build your own’ experience to a wider customer base – including visitors to the capital. As with the inaugural Stratham location, Shrimp Shack Camden will focus on bringing high quality, premium seafood to diners at an affordable price in a fun, playful and vibrant environment.

Shrimp Shack’s first franchise partner will be Bluewater Wealth Management Ltd which is run by Mussa Patel, a Dubai based property investor. Following the success of the Streatham launch and seeing the opportunity for growth in the UK hospitality market, Mussa is entering the partnership confident that Balal Aqil and his team have the credentials to build a strong band and one that, with the right franchise partners, will quickly see nationwide growth.

Following this, we wanted to open a second location so we could bring our bold and interesting flavours to more people, and Camden felt like the perfect fit.

“With Balal coming from Creams Café which in itself is an incredible case study for the franchise model, this was always the aim for Shrimp Shack. We wanted to run the Streatham location ourselves in order to get under the skin of the business and understand what works, what doesn’t, and the customers, however embedding the franchise model into Shrimp Shack from essentially the beginning will be, with think, one of the foundations for success. This is just the beginning, and we have our sights firmly set on expansion through franchise partnership into different areas in London and other major UK cities in the future.”
