Dogs Welcome: New Peak District Menu Treats Four-Legged Guests to a Meal of Their Own
A stylish new café and visitor centre in one of the Peak District’s most scenic walking destinations has gone to the dogs – in the best possible way. The Cupola Kitchen and Rooms in Stoney Middleton has launched The Cupawla, a dedicated menu for canine companions, offering freshly prepared meals, healthy treats, and dog-friendly drinks designed to delight even the most discerning pooch.
From grilled chicken and scrambled eggs to Woofballs, Bark Brew and Puppachinos, the menu includes breakfast bites, lunchtime dishes and evening nibbles served fresh to order. The Cupawla range also features a retail station, where guests can pick up snacks and chews to take home.
Dog-friendly dining has been part of The Cupola’s ethos from the very beginning. Dogs are welcome throughout the café and restaurant, where they’re offered water bowls and treats on arrival. Flooring is wipeable for easy cleaning, and a relaxed, open layout makes it easy for guests with pets, prams or mobility aids to enjoy the space.
And it’s not just the dogs who eat well – The Cupola’s menu for humans is equally impressive, with a focus on griddled and flame-cooked dishes that celebrate fresh, seasonal ingredients. Think full English breakfasts cooked on the griddle, wood-fired pizzas, chargrilled meats and plant-based plates, all crafted with care and served in a welcoming, light-filled setting.
Located in the heart of the historic limestone village of Stoney Middleton, The Cupola sits at the start of several heritage trails launched earlier this year. Created by owner Colin Hall, the trails weave through local legends and landscapes – from Lover’s Leap and Black Harry Lane to the haunting Boundary Stone of Eyam.
The walking maps, available to buy from The Cupola, also include free entry to the venue’s ‘Life in a Gorge’ exhibition, which tells the geological and industrial story of this unique Peak District setting.
Visitors wanting to make a weekend of it can stay at Rock Mill, the luxurious self-catering apartments next door. These modern, dog-friendly holiday homes offer fully equipped kitchens, stylish living areas, and even a stainless steel dog-wash station and dryer – perfect after a walk in Middleton Dale or the nearby Monsal Trail.
Colin Hall, owner of The Cupola, said:
“We’ve designed The Cupola Kitchen and Rock Mill as places where everyone feels welcome – dogs included. Whether you’re walking, exploring the local history, or simply stopping in for a griddled breakfast or pizza, we want you and your pup to feel at home. The Cupawla menu is just one more way we’re making that possible.”
The Cupawla menu is available seven days a week, with dog-friendly options served at breakfast, lunch and dinner. For more information, visit www.thecupola.uk.
