ABERFELDY® Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky reveals the latest addition to its Wine Cask Collection, an 18-year-old finished in Tuscan wine casks.

The limited-edition series, curated by Malt Master Stephanie Macleod, explores how finishing in fine wine casks, interacts with, and elevates the character of ABERFELDY Single Malt.

ABERFELDY 18-Year-Old is finished in 2016 vintage Sangiovese wine casks, sourced from the Valdarno di Sopra region in Italy. The appellation, one of Italy’s newer DOCS titles, covers a small area of eastern Tuscany. It is home to the native Sangiovese dark grape varietal which produces lightly oaked, savoury, and earthy wines.

Initially matured in refill casks and Hogsheads, the whisky was then finished in Sangiovese wine casks. Being first fill, the casks bring intense complexity and rich, fruity notes to the whisky, such as red plums, candied orange peel and honeyed figs.

ABERFELDY 18-Year-Old Sangiovese Cask Finish is bottled at 46% ABV, is non-chill filtered and has natural colour. The RRP is: £108. The expression will be available in JPHA Whisky and Soho Wine Supply
