Abasto Celebrates Malbec Day

The Argentinian wine and empanada specialist, Abasto, will be celebrating World Malbec Day in April with a month of special events. Starting from Sunday the 1st of April, Abasto will pay homage to this beloved grape with a series of special wine previews and empanada tastings, including a ‘No Corkage’ day on Malbec Day itself (17th of April).

Abasto boasts the largest selection of Malbec wines in London, with over 50 Malbecs from around the world, from Argentina to Spain, New Zealand and France. In addition, the specialist also bakes over 12 different types of empanadas from its kitchen on a daily basis. Using traditional pastry dough from Argentina, the empanadas contain fillings from Spanish meats and cheeses, as well as ‘Dulce de Leche’ for a unique ‘dessert empanada’ and vegan ones.

Throughout Malbec Month, the Abasto Wine & Empanada flight menu will be featured for just £18.95 – featuring three glasses of wines, delectably paired with a choice of three empanadas.

The events organised this month include The Abasto Empanada & Wine Tasting on Friday the 13th of April from 7pm to 10pm, which will give guests the chance to try three assorted empanadas and three Malbecs for just £20; No Corkage Day on Tuesday the 17th of April from 12pm to 10pm, when wine fans will have the opportunity to try the world’s best Malbecs all day long and save up to 50%; and Malbec Blind Tasting on Thursday the 19th of April from 7pm to 10pm, offering guests the chance to win a bottle of Malbec if they guess four of them in a blind tasting contest.

Other partner events will be organised on the 11th of April from 7pm to 10pm, called ‘100% Malbec Wine Tasting with Divino in Vino’ and selling at £35 per ticket and ‘Malbec Quiz Night with Divino in Vino’ on Thursday the 26th of April from 7pm to 10pm at £35 per ticket.
