A detailed planning application for M41, an innovative development that will further enhance the food-led resurgence of Urmston and add an extra dynamic to the flourishing food and drink offering in the town, has been submitted by the McGoff Group. The decision from the Council is anticipated to arrive in June, with the planning application typically taking around 13 weeks.
McGoff Group will be investing approximately £3.5 million in the redevelopment of the existing market site. M41 will feature a bespoke new build design, as opposed to the large majority of food market halls across the UK that are located in historic buildings. The design will reflect the architecture and form of the existing buildings along Railway Road and Greenfield Avenue, while adding a touch of modernity and flexibility.
“We want M41 to reflect Urmston’s vibrancy and increasing desirability as a great place to live, work and play, and have worked closely with the local community to establish their views and understand their feedback regarding the concept, building design and product offering,” said Chris McGoff, director at the McGoff Group.
“The proposed plans for M41 are exceptional with every detail carefully considered, including indoor and outdoor children’s play areas, private dining, a mezzanine level with additional seating, space for pop-up stalls and staging events, as well as a dedicated co-work hub with free Wi-Fi to name just a few,” he continued.
A diverse blend of 10 to 12 food and drink operators will be placed around an informal seating area that will hold 160-180 covers. The operating partners will be selected carefully, ensuring that local customers benefit from the best quality and choice at competitive price points. Choosing independent businesses from across the region that can bring locally sourced food and drink will be a strong focus at M41.
The construction on site is hoped to start in August and scheduled to launch in spring 2019.
